A<\/span>WMB – is an organisation with the sole aim of connecting, championing and inspiring more Asian women to start and grow their businesses. Founded by Rupinder Kaur & Panna Chauhan, who collectively have 25 years business experience, because they felt there was just not enough support for women like them. \u00a0AWMB aims to empower like minded women with empathy and cultural understanding to fulfill their potential and pursue their entrepreneurial dreams.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Rupinder explains ‘we are a\u00a0community<\/strong>\u00a0that connects Asian Women both on and\u00a0offline.\u00a0Our aim is to provide a\u00a0unique environment where\u00a0women can\u00a0experience\u00a0empathy\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0understanding<\/strong>\u00a0to share\u00a0their\u00a0business journeys\u00a0and entrepreneurial dreams. We are finding that our women are\u00a0connected by their\u00a0cultural<\/strong>\u00a0beliefs, their\u00a0outlook<\/strong>\u00a0but\u00a0most importantly\u00a0their desire to achieve\u00a0success<\/strong>\u00a0in the\u00a0business environment whilst\u00a0remaining\u00a0true<\/strong>\u00a0to their\u00a0family<\/strong>, their\u00a0culture<\/strong>\u00a0and their\u00a0faith<\/strong>.’\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/span><\/p>\n

Why is it needed?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/span><\/p>\n

Rupinder says ‘we\u00a0felt AWMB was\u00a0needed because although we\u00a0know the\u00a0Asian\u00a0community is\u00a0entrepreneurial<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0has experienced\u00a0great\u00a0success,\u00a0<\/strong>with\u00a0<\/strong>British Asian businesses contributing between\u00a06-10% of\u00a0<\/strong>UK<\/country-region><\/place>\u2019s GDP despite\u00a0only making up 4% of\u00a0population.\u00a0The\u00a0Global\u00a0Enterprise Monitor, 2005\u00a0showed that\u00a0Asian women are three times more likely than white women to start a business. Black\u00a0women\u00a0are\u00a0four<\/strong>\u00a0times more likely\u00a0than\u00a0Asian\u00a0women\u00a0to\u00a0start and grow\u00a0their businesses. We wanted to find out why that was the case and\u00a0recently\u00a0commissioned ground breaking, pioneering\u00a0research\u00a0into the\u00a0attitudes, motivations and thoughts of Asian women in business.\u00a0We wanted to understand why the gap between black women engaging in\u00a0entrepreneurial\u00a0activity was\u00a0significantly\u00a0higher\u00a0than\u00a0Asian women.’<\/p>\n<\/span><\/p>\n
