{"id":11158,"date":"2014-08-11T14:42:09","date_gmt":"2014-08-11T14:42:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tat.reddaisytrading.co.uk\/index.php\/2014\/08\/11\/two-rival-beauty-queens-awarded-miss-birmingham-title\/"},"modified":"2014-08-11T14:42:09","modified_gmt":"2014-08-11T14:42:09","slug":"two-rival-beauty-queens-awarded-miss-birmingham-title","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/index.php\/2014\/08\/11\/two-rival-beauty-queens-awarded-miss-birmingham-title\/","title":{"rendered":"Two Rival Beauty Queens Awarded &#8216;Miss Birmingham&#8217; Title"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"content\">\n<h3>Rival beauty queens left confused when both are bestowed Miss Birmingham Title<\/h3>\n<div><img decoding=\"async\" border=\"1\" hspace=\"3\" alt=\"\" vspace=\"10\" align=\"middle\" src=\"http:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/Image\/ArticleImages\/TwoMissBirminghams-570x225.jpg\"\/><\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div\/>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Two rival beauty pageant organisations have awarded the title of Miss Birmingham to two separate contestants, causing much confusion to the beauty queens and leaving bosses livid.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Kris\u2019tina Jagpal, aged 26 from Edgbaston, was crowned Miss Birmingham in Leicester last week by the Miss Great Britain beauty pageant, a title which had already been awarded three months earlier by rival outfit Miss England.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div><img decoding=\"async\" border=\"1\" hspace=\"10\" alt=\"\" vspace=\"10\" align=\"right\" src=\"http:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/Image\/ArticleImages\/TwoMissBirminghams-1Construction-250x200.jpg\"\/><\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Bosses of the Miss England beauty pageant are furious over the matter, and insist that there is only one official Miss Birmingham \u2013 Katie Stamps, a 21-year-old construction worker from Kidderminster. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>The regional director of Miss England for the West Midlands, Rachel Barker, said: \u201cI am livid.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u201cWe could not afford the \u00a325,000 to challenge this through the courts.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u201cThey have no right to use the term, but unless we take them through the High Court in a costly battle we can\u2019t do anything.\u201d<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Rachel says that would-be entrants are extremely confused over the existence of two different beauty pageant queens holding the same title.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u201cI also had Katie on the phone utterly confused, asking if she\u2019s still Miss Birmingham,\u201d she added.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div><img decoding=\"async\" border=\"1\" hspace=\"10\" vspace=\"10\" align=\"left\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/Image\/ArticleImages\/TwoMissBirminghams-3-250x200-1.jpg\"\/>To further confuse the matter, Kris\u2019ina has previously held the title of Miss Birmingham in Miss England\u2019s version of the beauty competition in 2012. She later criticised the Miss England beauty pageant\u2019s organisers for excluding mums and married women from participating in the contest.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Kris\u2019ina said that despite there being two holders of the title last year, no problems arose.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>She added: \u201cWhen you win a pageant the last thing you want is all this. I was shocked to be honest.
