{"id":10636,"date":"2015-11-23T11:05:26","date_gmt":"2015-11-23T11:05:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tat.reddaisytrading.co.uk\/index.php\/2015\/11\/23\/asian-businesses-in-birmingham-rebirth\/"},"modified":"2015-11-23T11:05:26","modified_gmt":"2015-11-23T11:05:26","slug":"asian-businesses-in-birmingham-rebirth","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/index.php\/2015\/11\/23\/asian-businesses-in-birmingham-rebirth\/","title":{"rendered":"Asian Businesses in Birmingham Rebirth"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"content\">\n<h3>Asian businesses \u2018must play key role\u2019 in renaissance of the city<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align:center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" height=\"311\" src=\"http:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/image\/ArticleImages\/asian-business-birmingham-rebirth-467x184.jpg\" width=\"447\"\/><\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<\/p>\n<p>The Asian Business Chamber of Commerce\u2019s 18 per cent surge in membership in just six months is a \u2018phenomenal achievement\u2019 which will help support the renaissance of Birmingham, a key dinner heard.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<\/p>\n<p>ABCC president Saqib Bhatti said increasing membership figures had now soared to almost pre-recession levels, dating back seven years to the downturn of 2008.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<\/p>\n<p>Mr Bhatti told 550 guests at the ABCC\u2019s annual dinner and business awards at the ICC, sponsored by the Birmingham office of global accountants Mazars and The Schools of King Edward VI in Birmingham, \u00a0that the organisation had helped register record turnouts at a string of major events, including Eid, International Women\u2019s Day and Vaisakhi.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<\/p>\n<p>He said it was now crucial that the ABCC played a key role in the renaissance of the city.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u201cAcross the region we are seen as the only organisation that should be engaged with when it comes to accessing the Asian business community.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd with all the good things that have happened in Birmingham in 2015 \u2013 including the largest influx of foreign direct investment in any LEP area and a trade surplus with China \u2013 this is our opportunity to expand to grow in a united way.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe must let the policymakers know that, as major wealth creators and job creators, our opinions are important when it comes to key matters.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s the message I have already taken to Sir Albert Bore, leader of Birmingham City Council, to Business Secretary Sajid Javed in Westminster and to diplomats, parliamentarians and leaders from across Europe when they met in Tunisia last week.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<\/p>\n<p>Mr Bhatti added: \u201cBirmingham often gets cited as the Second City. But what we have achieved as a city over the last five years since one of the toughest recessions this year has ever seen, and where we are set to go, including being a BME majority city in 15 years, leads me to a single conclusion:\u00a0 That the ABCC, as your voice, has a crucial role in the future development of this region.
