{"id":10623,"date":"2015-05-01T09:53:28","date_gmt":"2015-05-01T09:53:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tat.reddaisytrading.co.uk\/index.php\/2015\/05\/01\/iab-a-key-part-of-team-birmingham\/"},"modified":"2016-01-07T17:31:00","modified_gmt":"2016-01-07T17:31:00","slug":"iab-a-key-part-of-team-birmingham","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/index.php\/2015\/05\/01\/iab-a-key-part-of-team-birmingham\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;IAB a Key Part of Team Birmingham&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"content\">\n<h3>Re-Elected President Announces New Committee <\/h3>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" border=\"1\" hspace=\"3\" alt=\"\" vspace=\"10\" align=\"middle\" src=\"http:\/\/theasiantoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/IAB-AGM-2015-458X191.jpg\"\/><\/p>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>The Institute of Asian Businesses (IAB) is playing a key role in Team Birmingham, the movement backing the city\u2019s \u201cmassive revival,\u201d the organisation\u2019s president, Saqib Bhatti, told members at its annual meeting.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Mr Bhatti, who was re-elected for a second term in office, added\u00a0 that, through its membership, IAB\u00a0 &#8211; the largest ethnic support organisation in the UK and part of Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce &#8211;\u00a0 represented a\u00a0 significant force in the continued\u00a0 development of the business community.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Looking to the future, he said that a key activity would be to see the organisation represent and lobby on issues that were of concern not only to members but also the wider Asian business community. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>IAB would also give priority to delivering high quality business services to support growth within the membership, providing full support to existing Patrons and Premier Plus Partners and securing greater exposure of IAB and its members via social media platforms, such as Facebook and Twitter.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u201cOur voice is being heard at the highest level,\u201d said Mr Bhatti, who added that discussions had been held on matters such as business rates with Government and\u00a0 Opposition spokesmen.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Although IAB has an impressive list of partners and patrons it will during the coming year be looking to increase membership of individuals and SMEs, who remain a key strength of the organisation.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u201cWe must not forget that SMEs are the backbone of the country,\u201d\u00a0 said Mr Bhatti, who last month joined the board of the Greater Birmingham &amp; Solihull Local Enterprise Partnership as a director.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>He said that one of the attributes of IAB was its stable membership. However, a full programme of events and networking activities \u2013 including its ever-popular annual dinner \u2013 was also instrumental\u00a0 in contributing to its success.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u201cLast year the annual dinner was one of the most successful in our history, 600 tickets selling out two months in advance \u2013indicative of the value, energy and standing of IAB in the wider business community,\u201d\u00a0 he said.
