{"id":10412,"date":"2009-08-17T16:43:52","date_gmt":"2009-08-17T16:43:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tat.reddaisytrading.co.uk\/index.php\/2009\/08\/17\/zee-tv-gives-back\/"},"modified":"2009-08-17T16:43:52","modified_gmt":"2009-08-17T16:43:52","slug":"zee-tv-gives-back","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/index.php\/2009\/08\/17\/zee-tv-gives-back\/","title":{"rendered":"Zee TV Gives Back"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"content\">\n<h3>Why there is more to Zee TV than the latest Bollywood blockbuster<\/h3>\n<div><strong>AS ONE of the leading entertainment channels for the world\u2019s burgeoning South Asian population, you\u2019d be forgiven for thinking there was nothing more to Zee TV than the glitz and razzmatazz of Bollywood.<\/strong> <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>The channel is one of the world\u2019s leading Asian entertainment channels broadcasting a variety of popular programmes in homes from Newcastle to New York.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>But while the channel has its duties to the millions of worldwide subscribers who tune in day and night, there are another group of people who are benefiting from the charitable arm of the entertainment giant. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Earlier this year Zee TV teamed up with the Nargis Dutt Cancer Foundation, named in honour of the late Bollywood actress who died from cancer in 1982, as well as the Ekal Vidyalaya Foundation, which provides value-based primary education to tribal and other underprivileged communities in rural India.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>The channel feels it has the responsibility to \u201cgive back to the South Asian community\u201d, says Subroto\u00a0Bhattacharya, CEO for Zee TV USA, and supporting charitable organisations is key to this commitment. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>This month saw Zee\u2019s charitable drive continue when it teamed up with CRY America, a charity that works towards ensuring the basic rights of underprivileged children. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>The project, \u2018My Vision and Dream for Children\u2019, invites the public to express their dreams for children through paintings, poems, essays, songs, photographs, photo-essays, short films, and statements and slogans.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u201cIlliteracy, child labour, malnutrition, preventable diseases and gender discrimination are injustices faced by millions of children. But not for long we hope.
