{"id":10310,"date":"2015-09-01T11:54:31","date_gmt":"2015-09-01T11:54:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tat.reddaisytrading.co.uk\/index.php\/2015\/09\/01\/a-day-to-remember\/"},"modified":"2016-01-07T17:18:14","modified_gmt":"2016-01-07T17:18:14","slug":"a-day-to-remember","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/index.php\/2015\/09\/01\/a-day-to-remember\/","title":{"rendered":"A Day to Remember"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"content\">\n<h3>Moeen Ali Named Man of the Match<\/h3>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" border=\"1\" hspace=\"3\" alt=\"\" vspace=\"10\" align=\"middle\" src=\"http:\/\/theasiantoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Ali-Day-to-Remember-447x311.jpg\"\/><\/p>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Moeen Ali\u00a0admitted it had been a day to remember after his all-round contribution saw him named man-of-the-match\u00a0in the five-run NatWest T20 International victory against Australia\u00a0.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Moeen smashed an unbeaten 72 and took 1-3 in his only over, picking up the key wicket of Glenn Maxwell and ending a 112-run stand with Steven Smith.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Earlier the Worcestershire all-rounder had added 135 with\u00a0Eoin Morgan<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>as England recovered from 18 for two to post 182 for five.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Smith\u2019s 90 looked to be putting the tourists on top, but\u00a0Ben Stokes<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\u2013 one of four Ashes winners in England\u2019s line-up \u2013 held his nerve in a crucial last over which saw three wickets fall, two of them run-outs.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u201cIt\u2019s the first time I\u2019ve been man-of-the-match for England so it\u2019s a great feeling,\u201d\u00a0Moeen told ecb.co.uk. \u201cWinning and contributing with the bat and ball was great.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u201cWe just concentrated on doing the basic things right \u2013 play the simple shot if we could &#8211; and thankfully today it was a very important partnership [with Morgan].\u201d<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>England had lost both their openers in an express over from Pat Cummins, who touched 95 mile per hour, but Moeen insisted he wasn\u2019t fazed by such blistering pace.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u201cI was just thinking to play properly and play proper cricket shots as much as I can,\u201d he added. \u201cI didn\u2019t take the situation of the game into consideration too much; I was going to play properly and thankfully today it came off.\u201d<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Moeen\u2019s wicket came with his first ball and again the all-action Stokes was involved \u2013 making up considerable ground from long-on before clinging on to a spectacular diving effort.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Although the bowler was keen to take some of the credit for his field placement, saying: \u201cIt was a brilliant catch \u2013 I swapped him with Alex Hales because obviously Stokesy is really quick and he\u2019s got a great arm so it was a great catch and changed the game.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u201cIt\u2019s a good confidence booster \u2013 obviously Australia are a really good side and to beat them in the short format that they are very good at it is good for the lads, so hopefully we can keep the momentum and take it in to the one-dayers.\u201d<\/div>\n<p>&#13;\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Moeen Ali Named Man of the Match &#13;
