{"id":10067,"date":"2013-12-04T11:59:13","date_gmt":"2013-12-04T11:59:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tat.reddaisytrading.co.uk\/index.php\/2013\/12\/04\/amir-khan-helps-raise-83000-for-typhoon-haiyan-appeal\/"},"modified":"2013-12-04T11:59:13","modified_gmt":"2013-12-04T11:59:13","slug":"amir-khan-helps-raise-83000-for-typhoon-haiyan-appeal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/index.php\/2013\/12\/04\/amir-khan-helps-raise-83000-for-typhoon-haiyan-appeal\/","title":{"rendered":"Amir Khan Helps Raise \u00a383,000 For Typhoon Haiyan Appeal"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"content\">\n<h3>A Knockout Success<\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" border=\"1\" hspace=\"3\" alt=\"\" vspace=\"10\" align=\"middle\" width=\"460\" height=\"225\" src=\"http:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/Image\/ArticleImages\/amir-khan-460x225.jpg\"\/><\/p>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Amir Khan has hosted a sell-out fundraising dinner for Islamic Relief\u2019s Typhoon Haiyan Appeal, which caused huge devastation in the Philippines last month.\u00a0\u00a0 <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Held at the Hilton Hotel in Bradford. over 500 people from all across the country attended the black tie event and a staggering \u00a383,400 was raised to help victims of the disaster by the end of the night.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>The fantastic total was raised through ticket sales and an impressive charity auction, which featured rare items including a signed Mohamed Ali boxing glove, Filipino boxer, Manny Pacquiao\u2019s boxing shorts, one of Usain Bolt\u2019s famous running shoes and a special meet and greet with Amir Khan at his own gym, Gloves Community Centre.\u00a0\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Amir explained: \u201cWhen I heard about the devastation in the Philippines I wanted to do anything I could to help \u2013 so I got in touch with Rizwan Malik and Islamic Relief to organise this fundraiser. The evening was an astounding success and the amount raised has exceeded all our expectations and I can\u2019t thank everyone enough for their generosity.
