Zee Raja, Birmingham born and raised has released his new single just in time for Eid.
We at the Asian Today caught up with the artist to discuss his new song ‘Marda Ni’ in a Q&A.
- Congratulations on your new single Marda Ni, tell us a little about your single?
My Latest Single ‘Marda Ni’ is a Romantic melody track with a different twist of sound and feel to it. I have been getting loads of messages from my listeners to give them a Romantic song so it’s only right I deliver them what they want from me . As they play a huge part in your success and growth as an artist. Marda Ni is totally the opposite to what I’ve done previously. so I hope the audience and listeners around the world enjoy what’s about to come from me.
- Where was the video shot?
The video was shot in various parts of Birmingham UK. due to the restrictions we couldn’t really go outside the country to shoot as planned .
- When will the single be released?
The single will release on Eid Day 21st July 2021 on my YouTube Channel and on all Digital platforms to download and Stream Worldwide.
- What challenges did you face when making this single if any ?
I have to say this was the easiest single in terms of recording that I have done. The video was a bit challenging In terms of acting and keeping up with my co star. As naturally I’m a reserved type of a person but the director did a good job in bringing me into life on set as did the rest of the crew on set . In terms of energy and laughter that’s what I’m good at and what I always bring with me as naturally I’m a energetic person. So we all had a blast on set while shooting this video.
- How has lockdown treated you and did this delay your single being released?
Lockdown has been difficult for me personally as well as mentally as I lost both my Grandma and Uncle in the space of few months. I pray may the Almighty one bless there souls and grant them paradise AMEEN . During that time I did struggled to cope with the losses they say it’s in your darkest moments and times u realise who’s REAL and Who’s FAKE. Well I learnt a lot in those tough times With everything that went on I did lose a lot of so called family, friends relatives. The circle got a lot smaller. It’s ok everything happens for a reason this was part of my journey and as we all know nothing is guaranteed. so when I did lose these so called family , friends it wasn’t a big loss to me as I lost two pillars of my family members which I would give anything to bring them back . as For the Release as mentally I wasn’t ready or prepared I needed to just take everything in and some how cope the only way I got through this phase was praying and staying close to my creator. Without him I don’t know if I would still be here . I remember one time I messaged a few of my close friends/ family that I’m going to give up music and walk away from it. I was luckily I had such understanding friends, family’s that they managed to change my decision and now I’m here getting ready for my New release. I just want people to keep my words and this article safe as later u will realise the impact of losing a loved one had on me that I was ready to walk away from two songs that had two of the biggest names in the music industry and names that most of us have grown up listening to. And Dream of working with. I never came to this industry for the name or the fame I enjoy music as it’s my hubby. As for the Release it got pushed back until I was fully ready and committed as u can’t cheat your craft. My message to anyone who is suffering or feeling down in these tough times is to pray as much as u can and stay close to your creator and your parents . Always Respect them because this world will love u conditionally but your parents will always love u unconditionally no matter what . Don’t go trying to impress the world or your friends u will end up with nothing impress your creator by doing good . impress your parents make them proud .
- Do you feel the music scene has changed during lockdown?
I think it’s slowed things down for a lot of us in terms of numbers of releases and video shoots. But the positive was that I’m sure we were all locked into the studio writing/ making beats.
