Following the launch of the British Asian Trust’s Rise on the Runway event held at the Hilton Waldorf Astoria last month (September 2016), Braun India Fashion Week London will continue to wave the flag and raise awareness on the ramp this year.

The launch of the campaign ‘Give a Girl a Future’ seeks to radically change the fortunes of girls living in South Asia by giving them the chance to learn skills, such as computer literacy, mobile repair and longer term the opportunity to work their way out of poverty. A pledge which is also being match funded by the UK Government.

The appeal launch event featured prominent designers such as Lucy Choi London and Raishma Islam, who showcased their work on acid attack survivors Laxmi Agarwal and Adele Ellis. Ms Agarwal, who had just come back from New York Fashion Week, spoke to patrons and friends of the Prince’s Trust to highlight the bleak reality that faces the majority of girls living in South Asia today.

The events, Braun India Fashion Week London and the National Asian Wedding Show, will take place at ExCel London over the weekend and expect over 19,000 visitors across the two-day period. Braun India Fashion Week London and the National Asian Wedding Show are honoured to support the British Asian Trust in this significant campaign and hope to raise both donations and awareness within the Asian diaspora attending the events.

Designers such as Rocky S, who has showcased his collection at London Fashion Week for the last two years, Ravita Mayor, Bhumika & Jyoti and Lanacherry, as well as celebrity model James Lee Taylor, will all walk the ramp with placards campaigning for audiences to support the cause.
