A gunman opened fire on College Road in Saltily on Saturday May 19 around 6.20pm a teenager was shot in the arm.

West Midlands Police are investigating the shooting, the 18-year-old man was sent to Heartlands Hospital by carand his injuries were not life-threatening.

Witnesses reported there were two more men with the gunman, and firearms officers were immediately sent to the scene.

College Road remained closed to the public on Saturday evening and a car was removed from the area for forensic investigation.

Police said a fingertip search of the scene would be undertaken on Sunday and the road would remain closed until the work was done.

A spokesperson from West Midlands Police said: “We’re investigating after shots were fired in Saltley, Birmingham on Saturday (19 May).

“We were called at 6.20pm by a person reporting a man with a gun on College Road and immediately sent firearms officers to the area. Witnesses report that two other men were with the gunman.

“Help get guns off the streets by reporting those involved in gun crime to the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. The information you provide may result in a reward

“A gun surrender is currently in place across the West Midlands where weapons can be brought to any police station or left in weapons bins across the region.”
