A new Prezzo restaurant has opened in Moseley Village on Alcester Road. The casual dining chain is the second one to open in Birmingham, the first having been opened in Harbourne.

Prezzo now has more than 220 restaurants in the UK. The company is known for converting old buildings into restaurants, the new Moseley addition having been converted from a Kwik Fit tyre depot, a 4000 sq ft building.

The deal was completed by prominent real estate company Cushman and Wakefield who now have a 25 year lease on the property.

Ed Purcell, who works as part of Cushman & Wakefield’s Birmingham retail team, said Birmingham suburbs were becoming an increasingly favourable choice for leisure chains and restaurants.

“This deal shows the continuing improvement of Birmingham’s suburbs and their growing attraction for chains who in the past may have shied away from them.”

Other chains have begun making moves into the Moseley area, including Costa coffee which recently converted a Barclays bank into a café.

Pizza Express may be opening up a new restaurant too and Davenports brewery submitted an application to turn a former HSBC building into a bar, restaurant and 10 bedroom hotel.
