Young readers are making a splash during National Bookstart Week, which gets underway today (Monday 6 June, 2016).

Wolverhampton’s libraries are supporting the annual event aimed at pre-school children and their families, with a host of free events taking place around the city based on the theme, “Under The Sea”.

The programme begins with a Baby Book Time and craft session with Bookstart Bear at East Park Library today (Monday) from 10am-11am.

On Tuesday, there’s a Baby Book Time at Central Library from 10.15am-11.15am and Story Time at Warstones Library from 2.30pm-3pm.

Bilston Library hosts a Story Time on Wednesday from 11am-11.30am, before local pupils enjoy a visit to Whitmore Reans Library on Wednesday afternoon for some “Pirate Mania”.

Tettenhall Library has a Story Time on Thursday from 11am-11.45am while there’s another Baby Book Time at Springvale Library on Friday from 10.15-11am.

There are special Bookstart promotions at the Civic Centre today from 2pm-5pm and Friday from 2pm-3pm and at New Cross Hospital on Thursday from 2pm-5pm with freebies up for grabs. A National Bookstart display can also be seen at the Civic Centre throughout the week.
